Standing Together at the Center of Music
In Korean, “Gaon” means “center.” Gaon Soloists was founded on the belief that every performer stands at the center as an artist — defined not by disability, but by musicianship, individuality, and artistic expression.
Who We Are
Founded in South Korea in 2021 and directed by violist You-Young Kim, Gaon Soloists is an inclusive professional classical ensemble bringing musicians with and without disabilities together on one unified stage. Beyond performance, the ensemble creates sustainable professional careers for musicians with disabilities through regular artistic programming and direct employment.
Artistic & Social Impact
Gaon Soloists was designated a Professional Arts Organization by Gyeonggi Province in 2024. Its work has been supported by the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, Korea Disability Arts & Culture Center, and corporate partners including main sponsor HS Hyosung.
From Korea to
the United States
Gaon Soloists has expanded its work internationally through major performances and educational collaborations. Milestones include a featured performance at the 2025 APEC Business Advisory Council Gala Dinner, the 2026 Korea-U.S. Friendship and Peace Conference, and a 2026 U.S. expansion tour including Lincoln Center with The Juilliard School, Harvard University, and Brown University.
